Steamed Secrets ( book 16 in Killer Coffee series) by Tonya Kappes, eBook, 209 pages

Synopsis from Author: SOUTHERN HOSPITALITY WITH A SMIDGEN OF HOMICIDE

Welcome to the Bean Hive Coffeehouse where the gossip is as hot as the coffee!

When Roxy Bloom traded in her high-powered lawyer heels for cozy barista sneakers and a fresh start in her charming hometown, she never expected murder to darken her doorstep. But when Vanessa Hartman—a model with secrets to spare—turns up dead under suspicious circumstances, the Bean Hive Coffee Shop becomes the center of small-town whispers, and Roxy can't resist stirring the pot.

With her trusty rescue pup Pepper at her side, Roxy dives headfirst into a swirling mystery of tangled relationships, jealous rivals, and one too many secrets steeping in the background. And just when the case gets hot enough to scald, Patrick Cane, the swoon-worthy man who stole her heart, is there with kisses and steadfast support to keep her grounded—if only Roxy could keep herself out of trouble.

As the Honey Springs Spring Festival lights up the town with laughter and charm, Roxy faces a parade of quirky suspects, a squawking parrot who just might hold the key, and a killer determined to keep their secrets buried. Can Roxy solve the mystery before the culprit skips town, or will her snooping put her back in a life she swore she left behind?

BOOK REVIEW: Yet again, the author has shown that you can pick up any of her books despite them being in a series you haven't read and fall in love. Can this woman paint a small southern town life better? This is now the third series of hers that I have read a book from and I love it! Honey Springs sounds like the cutest little town complete with a gazebo that totally reminds me of the one in Stars Hollow! I love that this book contains recipes like in the Camper & Criminals series. I won't say what the recipes are but I am definitely going to make one of them soon! Like always, the characters in this story are a riot! There is a parrot from the local rescue that is in the spotlight at the coffee shop who is a great mimic. There is the quirky gossip that can spread the news faster than Miss Patty and Babette working together. There's the cold and disconnected owner of a perfume company who has her nose so far up in the air that it's amazing she can acknowledge anyone else around her...but I digress!

This was 5 stars. I have yet to read a book by this author that is less. She keeps you guessing all the way to the end and then wraps the story up nicely without it feeling rushed like some shorter novels can feel. I love the inclusion of rescue animals in this series. Until my current pup, all my dogs that I have ever had have been rescues (in one way or another) and hold a special place in my heart. While this cover screams Valentines Day/February time to me, this story actually takes place in early spring so don't let that confuse you...especially if you judge books by their covers like I do! This book comes out Sunday 1.26.25 so be sure to check out the series available on Amazon.
