Reading Goals for 2025

I've been giving a lot of thought as to what my goals for this year would be. Let me break them down for you and maybe something will strike your fancy to try.

blue and green background, white title, and black text.

First goal: Track books for Cross Stitch project. I got an email from Spruce with a cross stitch pattern and a key to stitch the temperatures. Kind of like the temperature blanket I made but instead of crocheting, I opted for cross stitching and then I thought...wouldn't it be cool to keep track of the books that I read every day and color code them each day! Don't worry, I'll go into more detail in a separate post about this but I've already assigned colors for physical books, eBooks, audiobooks, ARCs from BookSirens and NetGalley, and ARCs from Indie Authors/Author requested (again, I'll break it down in another post).

Second goal: Read/Listen to 50 books. This is the same as last year. I actually finished 58 books last year and of those 58 books, 9 were audiobooks so I definitely didn't listen to more than 30%. This is the 3rd time in the last 5 years that I set a goal for 50 books and it's the first year that I completed it let alone exceeded it so I'm going to keep my goal at 50 books again this year and see how I do!

Third goal: Make my way through my physical books that I already own. This is also the same as last year. My books are all wrapped and numbered and ready for me to start reading and yet...I keep putting it off because I can't read a physical book at night and that's when I do most of my reading. I need to carve out some time in the morning to read a physical book so I can start getting through these books. I have over 120 books wrapped and have more that I've gotten since I finished wrapping that need to get wrapped and added!

Fourth goal: Donate/give away books that I don't want to keep/read again (or were DNF'd). This one is also the same as last year. I have a box of books to donate in the back of my car right now so when I go into town, I can swing by some of the Little Free Library locations and drop them off.

Fifth goal: Branch out into more genres. I love a good cozy mystery, thriller, suspense, murder, horror book. That is my go to. I have been branching off into the fantasy and read one that was called a romantasy which I loved. I would love to read some more Sci-Fi. I did read a Sci-Fi/Fantasy book last year that I loved and am on the author's ARC list for the next one. I don't want to say romance because I don't want to read like the grocery store smut (no offense to those who love those books, it's just not my jam) but soft romance books I guess. Where you get the gist that they're getting it on without the graphic details.

I would love to hear what your reading goals are for the coming year. Go ahead and drop them in the comments. If you want to get back into reading or looking for something new, join my Virtual Book Club. We have a group on Facebook that you can join by clicking here. Make sure that if you request to join that you answer the questions (super easy, how are you going to participate and what is your fav book/series) and agree to follow the group rules. If you don't have Facebook, fill out this Google Form and you'll be added to the newly launched email list!
