If The Fates Allow (stand alone in the Haven House series) by Chloe I. Miller, eBook, 217 pages

Synopsis from GoodReads: Welcome to Haven House - 1887. Life is extraordinarily dull for Wilhelmina Fairweather. With her days spent reading in the conservatory, she secretly longs for an adventure. Unfortunately, adventures do not come easily for someone like Willa. Afflicted with bouts of asthma since childhood, an exciting life far from home is a hope she dares not entertain. For as every Fairweather knows, hope has no place at Haven House.

That is until the holiday season heralds the arrival of a new doctor to the area. Dashingly handsome and with a quick wit to rival her own, Dr. Noah Anderson refuses to give in to his patient's stubborn nature. Prepared for a battle of wills, he won't take no for an answer, and as Willa allows him past her defenses, she and Noah come to realize that the lies and secrets long haunting the halls of Haven House are much more sinister than they could ever imagine.

No one is safe at Haven House. Not even a Fairweather.

BOOK REVIEW: This was my introduction to the Haven House series and I was not disappointed! While this has a bit of history or insight into the books in the series, there was nothing to make me feel like I was missing anything having not read the series yet. It is set in the late 1800 where it was still acceptable to arrange marriages based on family needs. You know what I mean. What can each family gain by a marriage. Throw in a holiday season and man you've got a great story! This is my first book from this author as well and I fell in love with her writing!

This is a 5 star read for me. There are some spicy scenes that are also very descriptive but when you read you'll understand why. The way the author wrote those scenes was very tasteful and didn't leave me feeling gross...more like I needed a cool shower! Will I be adding the rest of the Haven House series to my TBR...absolutely! Will I read anything else that she writes? Definitely! This book comes out on 11.12.2024 and is available for Kindle preorder now. I believe that she even teased an audiobook will be coming shortly as well...but check it out for yourself!
